Let's rock the 2nd week!
Hello!
We are excited to begin a new school year as we celebrate our theme, “We ROCK Together!” Just like every voice and instrument adds something special to a song, every student, family and staff member plays an important part in our Parkside community. When we work together, support one another and value every voice, we create something extraordinary—and help every student become the star they are meant to be.
We hope your student had a rocking first week of school! It was a lot of expectation teaching, but that is what helps us run smoothly and get academics going. We love it when students know the expectations so well, they can run the classroom themselves! Here are some things to keep in mind:
School supplies: We provide all needed supplies all year long. Please do not send them, unless they are a donation for the whole class. Any supplies taken at back to school night or purchased are great for at home use in supporting instruction being covered throughout the week or for just for fun at home.
Home to School Connection and Newsletters: On September 11th or earlier, you will see a home to school connection paper coming home from every teacher on Fridays, or the last day of the school week if we have Friday off. This is meant to help you stay engaged in academics and know if your student is getting behind. If your student cannot do it independently, please help, because they should be able to. Weekly newsletters will also be coming home from each grade level or teacher, so you know the standards that are being covered and any important news or updates.
Pickup and Dropoff: Thank you for helping keep pickup and drop-off safe and running smoothly! If you use Parkside’s parking lot, please pull forward as far as possible so more cars can enter the line. Students can safely use the sidewalk to walk to their lineup area or cafeteria. This small step makes a huge difference!
In the afternoon, please keep the area in front of the crosswalk clear for our daycare vehicles. One white Toyota 4Runner and three daycare buses pick up students there each day.
Other pickup and drop-off options include:
Vine Street
Murray Park, with students walking to or from school
The Keyhole at the Murray Soccer Field entrance on Vine Street; students can walk down the park path to meet you there
Please remember that the upper gate is usually locked by the crossing guard at approximately 8:55 a.m. Thank you for your patience and for helping us keep every Parkside student safe!
School Visitor Safety Procedures:
To help keep our students and staff safe, all visitors must:
Enter through the main entrance.
Present a valid government-issued photo ID to go beyond the front office. A photo of an ID cannot be accepted; Utah’s Mobile ID app is accepted.
Sign in and receive a visitor badge.
Wear the badge visibly while in the building.
Return to the office to sign out and return the badge.
Without a valid ID, visitors cannot go beyond the front office. Please allow a few extra minutes for check-in. Thank you for helping us keep Parkside safe!
Join Parkside’s Parent Pact:
Parent Pact is a group of parents and caregivers who work together with Parkside to support students, staff and school activities. See flyers below! There is no required time commitment—you can help in whatever way works best for your family.
To join or learn more, please reply to this message and we will add you into the Parent Square group or message Miriam Luna directly . We would love to have you involved! Thanks to those that joined on Back to School Night!
Excited to see our stars (students) tomorrow!
Ms. Nicholas and Mrs. Graves
